Ex‑teammate of Ronaldo turns down Al Nassr deal, on the hunt for a new club

The future of one of Manchester United’s young forwards is up in the air. At just 21 years old, the Argentine attacker has been deemed surplus to requirements and is not taking part in the team’s preseason preparations at Carrington. The decision came from the top: new manager Rubén Amorim has made it clear that the player is not part of his plans, removing him from the first-team squad.

Tension between the Portuguese coach and the winger is not new. Last season was marked by internal disputes and a strained relationship that impacted the player’s form and playing time.

Despite appearing in 58 official matches during the 2024/25 campaign—scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists—the young attacker failed to win over Amorim, and his departure now seems imminent.

Alejandro Garnacho, who still has time left on his contract and has made 144 appearances for the club (26 goals, 22 assists), is now looking to revive his career. His preference is to remain in Europe—ideally in the Premier League—where clubs like Chelsea and Napoli have shown preliminary interest, though no concrete offers have materialized. There were also talks with Bayer Leverkusen, but negotiations have cooled in recent days.

Garnacho turns down Cristiano Ronaldo’s club

Recently, Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr—led by Garnacho’s former teammate and idol Cristiano Ronaldo—expressed strong interest in signing the Argentine. The two shared the pitch six times during Ronaldo’s second stint at Manchester United, and even linked up for a goal, with Garnacho famously copying Ronaldo’s signature celebration, a move reportedly approved by the Portuguese star himself.

However, according to The Telegraph, Garnacho declined the offer. Despite his admiration for Ronaldo, the young winger has no interest in leaving Europe at this critical stage of his development. He remains focused on staying in a top-tier league where he can grow, earn regular minutes, and continue fighting for a place in Argentina’s national team.

What’s next for Garnacho?

Financially, United’s stance has shifted. Back in January, the club valued Garnacho at €80 million. Now, Daily Star reports that they would be willing to consider offers around €50 million—and Mundo Deportivo even claims that price could drop to €44 million if a serious buyer steps forward. The lower price tag indicates a desire to finalize a move before the transfer window closes and avoid retaining a player who’s no longer part of the club’s long-term project.

While no destination has been confirmed, one thing is certain: Garnacho’s time at Manchester United appears to be over. With his sights set on the Premier League and a continued presence in European football, the Madrid-born Argentine is ready for the next chapter—one where he can fully showcase his potential.
